OpenAI’s popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT, is experiencing a widespread outage, leaving users across the globe unable to access the service. The company confirmed the issue on its status page, stating that “ChatGPT is unavailable for some users” and that they are actively working on a solution.
The cause of the outage remains unclear. Platforms like DownDetector have been flooded with user complaints, with some reporting a complete inability to access the chatbot, while others are able to log in but cannot send queries or receive responses.
Given the unknown nature of the issue, typical troubleshooting steps for ChatGPT may not be effective at this time. The resolution will likely come from OpenAI directly, and it’s hoped that service will be restored soon.
This isn’t the first time ChatGPT has faced disruptions in recent weeks. A previous outage in Microsoft Bing’s API also temporarily impacted tools relying on the GPT language model. However, in this instance, the problem appears to be localized within OpenAI’s servers.
