How does The Gardener end?
(SPOILER ALERT!) In the final stretch of the series, Elmer faces a deep dilemma: choosing between following his feelings or preserving his life. A brain tumor has heightened his emotions, especially his love for Violeta. Despite this, his mother is determined to force him into surgery to remove the tumor, hoping to prevent his death.
Determined to live his romance with Violeta, Elmer defies his mother’s wishes, as she is willing to separate her son from the young woman at any cost. Moreover, she plans to get rid of Violeta to fulfill a mission from Sabela Costeira, who blames Violeta for her son’s death.
In contrast, Elmer decides to eliminate Sabela, but Violeta discovers all his plans. Meanwhile, La China Jurado, Elmer’s mother, hires a hitman to kill her son’s girlfriend; however, her attempts fail, and Violeta manages to get rid of the hitman just before he kills her. At that moment, she contacts Elder, who helps her hide the body.
After learning what his mother intended to do to Violeta, Elmer returns to confront her, but she knocks him out. Once at the hospital, she forces him to undergo surgery. After the tumor is removed, Elder regains his emotionless self, though he retains his memories. Despite not forgiving his mother, they continue to lead a seemingly normal life at the nursery.
Everything changes when Violeta makes an unexpected appearance, asking him for help to “make someone disappear.” The ending of The Gardener leaves many questions: Who does Violeta want to eliminate? Will Elder help with this dark plan? Without a doubt, all of this sets the stage for a second season, but we’ll have to wait for Netflix to make an official announcement in the coming months.
