Squid Game has become one of Netflix’s most successful Korean series, sparking interest from people worldwide who wish to play it at least once.

But is the cash prize won by the game’s champion worth it? Here’s how much the prize equals in dollars.

What is the Squid Game prize?

In both seasons, the winner’s prize amounts to 45.6 billion won, which is equivalent to 100 million won per participant in the game.

The total prize pool grows with each player’s elimination. At the end of the six challenges, if only one survivor remains, they take the entire prize. However, Season 2 introduces an innovative twist, opening the possibility for more than one player to survive and walk away wealthier.

How much is 45.6 billion won in dollars?

Currently, the total prize of 45.6 billion won is approximately 31.5 million dollars. However, during the first season, the prize was valued at 38.5 million dollars.

What is the prize in Squid Game Season 2?

In Season 2, the prize structure changes significantly. Players now have the option to end the games early through voting, allowing the accumulated prize to be divided among several participants. This contrasts with Season 1, where there could only be one winner.

Before each vote, players are informed about the total prize pool and how much each would receive if the majority decides to withdraw at that point.

  • First vote: Each player’s share was 24,931,500 won, approximately 17,000 dollars. However, the majority chose to continue playing to increase the prize.
  • Second vote: The pool grew, raising the individual share to 78,823,530 won, equivalent to just over 54,000 dollars per player.
  • Despite the game’s dangers and the death of at least half of the participants, the players held a third vote. Once again, they decided to keep going.
  • Third vote: By this stage, the prize increase allowed each player to receive 356 million won, or more than 241,000 dollars, if they chose to leave the game at that moment.

Who won Squid Game?

In the first season, Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) emerged as the winner after defeating all other players in various challenges. The second season ended unresolved, leaving fans waiting for the third part to find out who will win the prize.

When will Squid Game Season 3 be released?

According to Netflix, the third and final installment of this popular Korean series will debut on the streaming platform sometime in 2025.

Post-Credits Scene Explanation from Squid Game

If you watched Squid Game Season 2, you likely noticed an intriguing post-credits scene at the end of the final episode. In these brief moments, three players (096, 100, and 353) are shown walking behind Young-hee, the iconic giant doll from the “Red Light, Green Light” game.

However, Young-hee is not alone. The camera reveals another giant doll, equally unsettling. The scene then focuses on the game’s traffic light, which suddenly switches from red to green.

This short scene raised many questions, but here’s the explanation: the new giant doll, named Cheol-su, will be the central figure in the main game of the third season.

It is still unclear whether this doll will replace Young-hee, as Gi-hun revealed flaws in her system, noting that she cannot detect movement if someone hides behind another player.
