This video game was created by Sandfall Interactive, an independent French studio. It is inspired by classic Japanese games in the turn-based combat genre, combining elements of traditional role-playing games with action gameplay.
What is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 about?
The storyline of the video game centers around a group of people who leave their homes to embark on Expedition 33 to defeat enemies. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will feature six playable characters; however, only three have been revealed so far:
- Gustave: a clever and dedicated engineer who bases his combat style on the powerful Overload ability.
- Lune: a fervent scholar and powerful mage who uses elemental Blurs as her main technique in battle.
- Maelle: a reserved hermit and Gustave’s adopted sister who uses fencing stances as her fighting method.

The game consists of a series of turn-based battles, where you can perform powerful counterattacks, but first, you’ll need to identify the enemies’ weaknesses. During exploration, you’ll cross unknown paths where you’ll discover your opponents as well as new equipment and weapons to defeat them.
When will Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 be released?
The game from Sandfall Interactive will be available starting on April 24, 2025 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC consoles.
What video games will be released in 2025?
Around 20 video games are expected to be released this year for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC consoles. According to what was revealed recently during the Xbox Indie Showcase 2025, here are the titles:
- TRON Catalyst: set in the TRON universe. Its release date is scheduled for June 17, 2025.
- Tanuki Pon’s Summer: play as an adorable raccoon mailman on various missions. It will be released at the end of 2025.
- Ratatan: players control the Ratatans, who use magical instruments to give orders to the Cobun to defeat enemies to the beat of music. It will be released sometime in 2025.
- Tempopo: the game, set on a series of islands with puzzles to solve, will be available on April 17, 2025.
- Rockbeasts: a management game with story and RPG elements where you take on the role of a manager of an emerging rock band. It will be released sometime in 2025.
- Hotel Barcelona: coming sometime in 2025.
- Jump Ship: you will fight intense battles both on land and in space. It will be available in the summer of 2025.
- Wax Heads: a narrative punk game where you will run a record store. It will be released in the summer of 2026.
- Moonlighter 2 The Endless Vault: arriving sometime in 2025.
- Descenders Next: an extreme sports game where you will ride through snowy peaks, dangerous dirt trails, and challenging parks. It will be released on April 9.
- Outbound: you can create your own home on wheels, craft workstations and energy sources, and use natural resources like water, wind, and sun.
- Lies of P – DLC ‘Overture’: this prequel set in Krat will be released sometime in 2025.
- The Lonesome Guild: in this game, you’ll lead a quirky group of characters in a series of battles. It will be available in the fall of this year.
- Revenge of the Savage Planet: the sequel to Journey to the Savage Planet. It will be released on May 8.
- Herdling: you’ll guide a herd of mysterious creatures on an exciting and beautiful journey through the mountains. It will be released in the summer of 2025.
- 33 Immortals: play as a condemned soul and rebel against God’s final judgment. This game for 33 players will be released on March 18.
- Blue Prince: navigate changing corridors and rooms in this game combining adventure, strategy, and puzzles. It will be released on April 10.
- Echo Weaver: coming sometime in 2025.
- Balatro Friends of Jimbo (Pack 4): this new version of the game will be available on Xbox Game Pass.
- Buckshot Roulette: play Russian roulette with a 12-gauge weapon. Four enter, one leaves. You’ll bet your life to roll the dice.
