In a Viral Video, a Walmart Employee Warns Women Not to Use the Store Bathrooms Due to Serious Health Hazards in Plain Sight

Walmart is one of the most important retail brands in the world, boasting a large workforce as well. According to Statista data from 2024, Walmart’s global revenue reached approximately 648 billion U.S. dollars.

Additionally, the source states that in 2023, Walmart Mexico and Central America (Walmex) employed over 200,000 workers in its Mexican division, nearly 180,000 of whom had permanent contracts. In its Central American division, there were over 37,000 employees, with more than 36,000 working under permanent contracts.

What’s Happening in Walmart’s Bathrooms?

The issue came to light through an employee named Devan, who made a public service announcement in a TikTok video that has amassed 611,000 views and caused widespread alarm.

“This applies to men and women, but primarily to women, and you’ll see why,” Devan declared in his video before revealing that the toilet paper in the bathrooms was the problem.

He mentioned that before taking a restroom break to urinate or defecate in the store, he urged shoppers to check inside the toilet paper dispensers to see if intravenous drug users had cleaned their needles there.

In the video, Devan showed an image of a roll of toilet paper stained with what appeared to be blood.

“This is because needle addicts go into the bathroom, remove the cover of the toilet paper dispenser, insert their needles, and clean them,” Devan explained.

He added that even if there is no visible blood on the roll, it is important to check for small pin-sized holes since needles don’t always appear bloody after use.

“If you want to stay safe, remove the cover, check the toilet paper. If it looks like this, stand up and toss that stuff in the trash,” he urged.

He also advised Walmart customers to bring their own wipes to ensure their safety.

Thanks to the video, many media outlets in the U.S. have contacted the retailer to request a response to this alarming footage.

Devan also mentioned that he had personally seen blood-stained paper once or twice at Walmart, though viewers reported similar incidents in various public bathrooms.

The viral video quickly drew responses from the online community, with numerous comments such as:

“I saw this at a small café in Rome, Italy. It’s a global issue,” wrote one user.

“I never would have thought of this! Thank you so much for the warning,” said a grateful shopper.

“Thanks for the advice! This is insane! What a scare. Simple things like toilet paper can be a hazard,” added a second astonished viewer.

It’s worth noting that this is not the first time someone on TikTok has warned followers about this risk.

Last year, TikTok user Dane Jones issued a similar warning, sharing an image of a roll of toilet paper covered in small red specks alongside long, thin, colorless streaks.

“If you look closely, you’ll see a bunch of tiny red blood spots,” Jones pointed out. “That’s not from someone’s bloody nose or a small accident.”

He urged anyone encountering something similar to leave the public restroom immediately.
