Walmart is now introducing a beauty service where customers will enjoy not only personalized attention but also a wide range of products tailored to every skin type and lifestyle. It’s called Beauty Bars, and it features beauty experts, free samples from top brands, and more. Here’s what you need to know.
What are Beauty Bars?
Beauty Bars are a pilot program where customers can explore new products, consult with beauty experts, and try everything from skincare to haircare items. Shoppers will also find dermatologist-recommended products and everyday essentials for those who follow a consistent beauty routine.
Which Walmart stores will have Beauty Bars?
So far, the company hasn’t revealed exactly which stores will feature the Beauty Bars; however, it has confirmed that the service will be launched in 40 select locations. In addition to the Beauty Bars, the retail chain shared that in 2024 it added over 40 premium brands to its catalog. It also expanded the core assortment and introduced new avenues for emerging brands through programs like Walmart Start, its beauty accelerator program.

When is Walmart’s Beauty Event?
It’s already underway! Walmart’s Beauty Event began on April 18 and will run through May 31. This is one of Walmart’s biggest seasonal activations, offering over 1,800 deals and discounts to customers. During the Beauty Event, shoppers can revamp their routines with everything from cult-favorite premium brands to $3 tweezers.

In addition to the Beauty Event, the retailer is also bringing back Walmart+ Week. For seven days, both loyal and new Walmart+ members will be able to enjoy a variety of rewards, discounts, and exclusive offers that enhance their membership benefits. This event will take place from April 28 to May 4 and is exclusive to Walmart+ members.

Walmart History
Walmart was founded by Samuel Moore Walton, a man whose determination was shaped early in life. During his youth, he held multiple jobs to help support his family—selling milk, offering magazine subscriptions, and even waiting tables in exchange for food while attending school.
Early in his career, he worked as a sales apprentice at JCPenney, where his boss told him he wasn’t cut out for retail. Time, however, would prove otherwise. Years later, Walton would go on to found what would become the world’s largest supermarket chain.
In 1962, Walton opened the first Walmart store, with a clear vision: to bring the discount store concept—common in large cities—to small towns, offering affordable prices. The model was an instant success. Within a decade, Walmart was listed on the New York Stock Exchange. By 1991, it had surpassed industry giants like Kmart and Sears, becoming the largest retailer in the United States.
