A man attacked several people inside the Metro Tacubaya facilities, one of the busiest stations in Mexico City.

As a result of these events, several people were injured, two of whom were stabbed by the attacker, and another sustained physical injuries.

After attacking the passengers, the aggressor threw himself onto the tracks but was rescued by security personnel and staff of the Mexico City Metro.

According to reports from local news outlets, one of the injured individuals was transported to the hospital in critical condition, as they sustained multiple injuries to the body and skull.

On social media, some users of the Collective Transportation System Metro have shared images of the incident.

At the Tacubaya station, lines 1, 7, and 9 intersect. The Mexico City Metro transports approximately 5 million users daily.

What did the Metro report about the incident?

Regarding these events, the STC Metro issued the following statement through its X account, formerly Twitter: “Good morning. Metro Civil Protection personnel, in coordination with staff from @SSC_CDMX, detained a person who allegedly attacked four passengers and threw himself onto the tracks at Tacubaya station on Line 7. Medical support is being coordinated accordingly. At the moment, circulation is continuous.”

Meanwhile, the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC CDMX) reported in an official statement that a man entered the metro facilities “visibly disturbed” and attacked four people with a sharp object.
As a result of these events, a 26-year-old man, identified as the alleged perpetrator, was detained and transferred to the facilities of the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City (FGJCDMX).

This is the official statement issued by SSC CDMX regarding the incident:

Officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City arrested a 26-year-old man who allegedly assaulted four individuals at the Tacubaya station on Line 7 of the Metro.
At the station, Auxiliary Police officers were approached at one of the entrances by a citizen with visible bloodstains on his body. Emergency services were promptly requested. Meanwhile, the officers observed a man running up the stairs and, visibly disturbed, jumping onto the tracks, causing an incoming train to stop.

At the scene, with the arrival of additional teams, the police arrested the man. Paramedics from the Rescue and Emergency Medical Squad (ERUM) diagnosed him with intoxication from unknown substances and a head injury, which was treated on-site.

Additionally, within the station, Industrial Safety staff from the Metro and Civil Protection paramedics attended to four citizens aged 46, 49, 54, and 63, who were attacked with a sharp object by the suspected perpetrator. They were transported to various hospitals for prompt medical attention.

After being informed of his legal rights, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the corresponding Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine his legal status and conduct the case investigation.
