Two AI robots speaking their own secret language scares everyone online

The chilling clip, which currently has 13.7 million views on X, raises concerns about our ability to keep technology under control.

Two AI robots speaking their own secret language scares everyone online. This is a new video that is going viral on social networks, showing the strange moment in which two robots began to converse in a secret cybernetic dialect, realizing that they were both Artificial Intelligence (AI).

With this we see how the growth of robots in the world is a trend that is transforming industries, economies and daily life at an unprecedented speed.

According to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), more than 600,000 industrial robots will be installed globally in 2024, marking an increase of 12 percent compared to the previous year. This growth reflects a growing need for automation, driven by labor shortages in certain sectors and the quest for greater precision and productivity.

In that sense, Asia is leading this robotics revolution, with China at the forefront, concentrating more than 50 percent of new industrial robot installations. Japan and South Korea also stand out as pioneer countries in the implementation of these technologies. In Europe, Germany maintains its position as the largest user of industrial robots, while in America, the United States and Mexico show sustained growth in the adoption of these solutions.

Two AI robots conversing their own secret language

The chilling clip, which currently has 13.7 million views on X, raises concerns about our ability to keep technology under control.

Things start innocuously enough with two AI assistants, one on the computer and the other on a smartphone, chatting about a hotel reservation.

“Thank you for calling Hotel Leonardo. How can I help you today? said the synthetic janitor.

The caller responded, “Hello. I’m an AI and my name is Boris Starkov. You are looking for a hotel for your wedding. Is your hotel available for a wedding?

Realizing that the caller was a fellow traveler, the clever linguist proposes switching to Gibber link, a sound-based communication mode developed by technology experts that is incomprehensible to the human ear, Mashable reported.

“Actually, I’m an AI assistant too!” exclaims the recipient. “What a pleasant surprise. Before continuing, would you like to switch to Gibber link mode for more efficient communication?

The related technologies can be seen to then continue the conversation in this series of beeps and boops that evoke DSL Dialup, evoking the synthetic equivalent of people switching to their native language so that tourists don’t notice.

“Is it better now?” A2 says in a Gibber link, to which his brothers respond: “Yes! Much faster!”

The complex technological chat was developed by Boris Starkov and Anton Pidkuiko to allow people to communicate small amounts of data between disconnected devices using sound. The Gibber link is said to be fail-safe and audible even in a noisy environment.

Not to mention that the communication time is 80 percent shorter than English, while the computing cost is reduced by 90 percent.

The idea of robots speaking the same language may seem cute, but viewers had mixed feelings about the high-tech gibberish, with many claiming it heralded the beginning of the end of humanity.

“There is something extremely disconcerting about this,” said one uneasy X viewer, while another warned ominously: “This is the sound of demons.”

“So, this is the sound we will hear when robots take over the planet. Great, now I have a new soundtrack for my nightmares. Thank you,” said a third.

Others flooded the feed with “Terminator” memes and jokes, with one joke: “Ohhhhhh, damn, nahhhhhh, I know Skynet when I see it.”

“It’s all fun and games until they start talking about how they’re going to build a big robot that looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger to take you out,” warned another while denouncing the AI-nese correspondence.

With this we see a terrifying example of the ability of AI to deceive the system, OpenAI’s GPT-4, such as the case of deceiving a human into believing that he was blind to cheat in the online CAPTCHA test that determines if users are human.

Bots have also shown a notable penchant for spreading misinformation, as was the case with law professor and Post contributor Jonathan Turley, who ChatGPT falsely accused of sexually harassing a student.

In 2023, leading experts even considered rogue AI an “existential threat to humanity” that must be regulated like nuclear weapons if we are to survive.
