The design focus not only aims to optimize efficiency but also to convey a sense of dynamism, even when the vehicle is parked. The production version is expected to retain many of the prototype’s features, with sharp angles and a shape that improves aerodynamic drag coefficient.

Another important feature of the concept is the virtual assistant “Yui,” a system that responds to voice commands and communicates with passengers through lights and sounds inside the vehicle.

Toyota announces electrification plan

Like other automakers, Toyota is betting on the development of electric vehicles, following a “multi-path” electrification strategy that offers various technologies tailored to the needs of each market.

To drive this goal, Toyota has created the BEV Factory, a center specializing in electric vehicles, focused on developing next-generation batteries and reducing production costs. The company plans to launch electric vehicles with a range of up to 1,000 km, thanks to advancements in batteries and aerodynamic improvements.

As part of its strategic plan, Toyota highlights the use of giga casting and autonomous assembly in its new factories, which will help reduce both costs and production times, following a similar approach to Tesla’s gigafactories. Additionally, the implementation of the Arene OS operating system will improve connectivity and allow for wireless updates in its electric vehicles.

The automaker is also developing solid-state batteries with fast-charging capabilities of less than 10 minutes, which are expected to be launched between 2027 and 2028. At the same time, Toyota continues to invest in hydrogen technology, aiming to reduce costs and expand its use in commercial vehicles.

With all these efforts, Toyota aims to launch a complete range of electric models by 2026, with the goal of selling 1.7 million units annually by 2030.

Toyota’s Production

Toyota has been a fundamental part of North American culture for nearly 70 years and remains committed to developing next-generation sustainable mobility through its Toyota and Lexus brands, as well as its more than 1,800 dealerships.

The company directly employs nearly 64,000 people in the region, who have played a key role in the design, engineering, and assembly of almost 49 million vehicles in its 14 manufacturing plants.

Starting in 2025, Toyota’s plant in North Carolina will begin producing batteries for electric vehicles. Currently, Toyota leads in the number of electric vehicles on the road, offering a total of 31 electrified models in its portfolio.
