Nestlé has issued a warning about a model of metal mugs featuring the Starbucks logo, due to the risk of burns and lacerations. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced this on March 21, Thursday.
The Swiss company is seeking to remove 440,000 mugs from the U.S. market, which were manufactured in China.
These Starbucks cups were part of four gift sets sold during the 2023 holiday season.
They have a capacity of 11 and 16 ounces (0.3 and 0.5 liters) and are made of ceramic with a metallic coating.
In its warning, Nestlé stated: “Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cups and return them to the place of purchase or contact Nestlé USA for a full refund.”
Starbucks mug recall: injuries
At least 12 incidents have been reported where the cups overheated or broke, causing ten injuries, including nine serious burns or blisters on fingers and hands, and one cut on a finger.
Authorities recommend consumers immediately stop using the mugs and return them to the place of purchase or contact Nestlé USA for a full refund.
The gift sets were sold at Target, Walmart, and the Nexcom chain of military retail stores between November 2023 and January 2024, priced between $10 and $20.
How to Return Starbucks Cups?
