Unfortunately, it won’t be available at all locations—only at a select few. Here’s where you can find it and what it includes.
Where will Portillo’s new breakfast menu be available?
According to the company, this is a pilot program that will launch first in Chicago, at the following five locations:
- Canal & Taylor: 520 W Taylor St, Chicago, IL
- Elmhurst: Route 83, 155 S, Elmhurst, IL
- Tinley Park: 15900 S Harlem Ave, Tinley Park, IL
- Shorewood: 1155 Brook Forest Ave, Shorewood, IL
- Niles: 8832 W Dempster St, Niles, IL

Portillo’s Breakfast Menu
The breakfast menu will feature classic morning favorites—but with Portillo’s signature twist. Customers will be able to choose from eggs, donuts, coffee, and more. Here’s what’s included:
Sandwiches:
- Polish Sausage, Egg & Cheese Sandwich: Scrambled eggs, char-grilled Polish sausage, American cheese, and Portillo’s signature Giardiniera sauce on toasted French bread.
- Pepper, Egg & Cheese Sandwich: Scrambled eggs, sweet peppers, American cheese, and Giardiniera sauce on toasted French bread.
- Bacon, Egg & Cheese Croissant: Scrambled eggs and crispy bacon layered with American cheese on a buttery, flaky croissant.
Stan’s Donuts:
- Portillo’s Chocolate Cake Donut: A special collaboration with Stan’s Donuts—this chocolate old-fashioned donut is dipped in chocolate glaze and drizzled with Portillo’s famous chocolate cake frosting. Available exclusively at Portillo’s.
Sides:
- Loaded Breakfast Scramble: Scrambled eggs, crispy hash browns, bacon, and cheesy cheese sauce.
- Hash Brown Bites: Crispy, golden hash brown bites.
- Bacon: Three slices of crispy bacon.
- Fresh Fruit Cup: A refreshing mix of cantaloupe, honeydew, and pineapple.
Drinks:
- Chocolate Cake Iced Coffee: A new drink inspired by Portillo’s iconic Chocolate Cake—flavored with chocolate cake and cream.

When will Portillo’s breakfast menu be available?
Breakfast items will be available starting Tuesday, April 15—but only for a limited time! So if you want to try it, don’t wait too long. You can stop by daily between 6:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
The History of Portillo’s
Portillo’s was founded by Richard “Dick” Portillo, a Chicago native who, after serving in the military, returned home with the goal of marrying his girlfriend and starting his own hot dog business.
With just $1,100 in savings, Dick and his wife Sharon invested in their dream, laying the foundation for what would eventually become Portillo’s. In 1963, Dick opened “The Dog House,” a modest hot dog stand in Villa Park, Illinois, operating out of a small trailer.
Six years later, in 1969, the business had become profitable enough for Dick to expand. He rebranded the stand as Portillo’s and opened his first standalone restaurant, complete with a kitchen capable of properly preparing his full menu. In 1983, they introduced drive-thru service at their Downers Grove, IL location—a feature that quickly became a hallmark of the chain, known for its speed and efficiency.
Over time, the restaurant gained national attention. To capitalize on its growing popularity, in 1999, Portillo’s launched a catering service, allowing its food to be served at events and gatherings across the country and contributing to the brand’s nationwide expansion.
