McDonald’s unveils Taylor Swift inspired ‘Bestie Bundle’ meal deal

The “Bestie Bundle,” priced at $13 CAD plus tax, includes two of everything: Junior Chicken sandwiches, small fries, and small drinks—perfect for sharing with a friend.

This will be a happy meal for Swifties. As a strategy to further captivate consumers, McDonald’s has introduced a new affordable meal apparently inspired by the friendship bracelets exchanged during Taylor Swift Eras Tour.

In the fast-food industry, many brands stand out. According to data from Kantar Millward Brown, McDonald’s reported a brand value of around 191.1 billion U.S. dollars, making it the leader in the ranking of the world’s most valuable fast-food brands in 2022.

The “Bestie Bundle” from McDonald’s

The “Bestie Bundle,” priced at $13 CAD plus tax, includes two of everything: Junior Chicken sandwiches, small fries, and small drinks—perfect for sharing with a friend. It even features two limited-edition friendship bracelets adorned with five phrases such as “Live Laugh Big Mac.”

“We brought our guests the Bestie Bundle because we know our favorite McDonald’s orders bring friends together,” said Alyssa Buetikofer, Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald’s Canada, in a statement.

“With Bestie Bundle, we’re inviting best friends everywhere to share a meal with something extra to remember it by.”

However, there is one problem for American Swifties: this affordable meal is only available in Canada. This fact has sparked excitement among fast-food and Swift fans.

“Crying in American,” joked one TikTok user. “Is this only in Canada? The U.S. is on fire right now… I need a small bundle of joy for my bestie,” pleaded another.

“You’re telling me this is only in CANADA!! I want a friendship bracelet,” lamented one person. “Time to take a trip to Canada,” wrote someone else.

“Never in my life have I wanted to be Canadian more than today,” said content creator Brittany Giaccani in a recent TikTok clip. “Do I have friends in Canada? I love you all so much.”

It’s worth mentioning that the launch coincides with Swift’s performances in Toronto over two weekends and in Vancouver next month during her successful Eras Tour, during which her devoted fans have crafted countless colorful friendship bracelets to wear and exchange at each stop.

The bracelets, inspired by a lyric from her song “You’re on Your Own, Kid” about making beaded jewelry, are often adorned with song titles, lyrics, acronyms, or other Swift-related phrases, prompting brands to produce and sell them as well.
