McDonald’s is celebrating! The famous fast-food chain is marking the 50th anniversary of its iconic Egg McMuffin, the delicious breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese, and Canadian bacon that has become a classic on the franchise’s menu.
To celebrate, the company has launched a series of offers that, if you’re a fan of their menu, you won’t want to miss, like purchasing an Egg McMuffin for only $1. Here are all the details so you can take advantage of the promotions.
How to get an Egg McMuffin from McDonald’s for $1?
In honor of this popular breakfast, McDonald’s has established Egg McMuffin Day. The celebration will begin on Sunday, March 2, when customers can buy this product or a Sausage McMuffin with egg for $1 through the official app.

Offers for Egg McMuffin Day
The fast-food chain is also offering other promotions as part of the 50th anniversary of the Egg McMuffin, which will be available throughout the month of March. These are the following:
- Buy One, Get One Free Sausage McMuffin with Egg: When you buy a Sausage McMuffin with egg, you’ll get another one free. The offer will be available from March 3 to 30 and applies to orders through the app.
- Bagel Sandwich: This will now be available at all locations nationwide.
What is the Egg McMuffin?
The Egg McMuffin was introduced in 1975 by Herb Peterson, a McDonald’s franchisee in Santa Barbara, California. Peterson created this sandwich as a portable version of the traditional Eggs Benedict and presented it to Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonald’s.

- Free apple slices: regular price $1.49
- Free hamburger: regular price $2.79
The Valentine Friend Pack was available until February 14, but you have until May 29, 2025, to redeem the coupons.
The $5 meal deal is also still available at all franchise locations, running until the summer of 2025. It includes a McDouble or McChicken sandwich, small fries, 4-piece Chicken McNuggets, and a small drink—all for just $5.

In 1954, Ray Kroc had the chance to visit a small restaurant in San Bernardino, California, owned by brothers Dick and Mac McDonald.
