Robert George Uecker was born on January 26, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. From a young age, he was a great baseball enthusiast, enjoying games of the Milwaukee Brewers in the minor leagues at Borchert Field. Over time, Bob, who was also an athlete, signed a professional contract with his hometown Milwaukee Braves and made his Major League debut on April 13, 1962.

During his career, he played as a catcher for three teams: the Braves (both Milwaukee and Atlanta), the Cardinals, and the Phillies. His final Major League game was in 1967 with the Atlanta Braves.

After retiring as a player in 1971, Bob returned to Milwaukee and began working as a radio broadcaster for the Milwaukee Brewers. He also gained recognition as a television commentator for Major League broadcasts, calling games for ABC in the ’70s and early ’80s, and for NBC in the ’90s.

In 1982, Uecker had the opportunity to call the World Series locally for the Brewers on WISN in Milwaukee. He became famous for his iconic phrase, “Get up! Get up! Get outta here! Gone!” whenever a Brewers player hit a home run.

With his first wife, Joyce, he had four children: Leeann, Steve, Sue Ann, and Bob Jr. In 1976, he married his second wife, Judy, in Louisiana, and they divorced in 2001.
