LG announced that it has recalled a batch of approximately 500,000 electric stoves following several reported incidents caused by malfunctioning; if you own one of these products, we will tell you what happened and what to do about it.

Why is LG recalling electric stoves?

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), at least 86 reports have been received about stoves that accidentally turned on through the front knobs, causing over 28 fires.

At least five of these fires caused significant property damage, totaling over $340,000. There have been reports of at least eight minor injuries, including burns, and three fires that involved pet deaths.

According to the CPSC, only units manufactured until 2023 from the following models are affected:

Where were the recalled LG electric stoves sold?

The stoves, manufactured in Mexico and Korea, were sold from 2015 to January 2025 for between $1,400 and $2,650. They were distributed not only through the company’s website but also in stores like Costco, Best Buy, The Home Depot, and Lowe’s nationwide.

What should I do if I purchased a recalled electric stove?

The company has advised consumers to keep children and pets away from the knobs, check the knobs to ensure they are turned off before leaving home or going to bed, and avoid placing objects on the stove when it is not in use.

They also have the option to visit https://www.lgecares.com/rangerecall and enter their information to request a free warning label, along with instructions on how to apply it and use the control lock function or lockout feature.
