Now, we will finally have the chance to reunite with him in a long-awaited sequel. That’s right, Adam Sandler returns to the world of golf in Happy Gilmore 2, joined by both new and familiar faces.

In this new installment, Sandler is accompanied by the original stars of the film, Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald, as well as new co-star Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, globally known as Bad Bunny.

What is Happy Gilmore about?

The film tells the story of a former hockey player who, upon discovering his golf talent, decides to enter a tournament in hopes of saving his grandmother’s house, which is at risk of being sent to a nursing home.

Along the way, he encounters Shooter McGavin, an arrogant golf champion played by Christopher McDonald, who will stop at nothing to add another title to his collection.

What happened at the end of Happy Gilmore?

At the end of the original Happy Gilmore, Adam Sandler’s character finally finds relief after a grueling golf season (and an epic fight with Bob Barker from The Price Is Right).

In his attempt to raise enough money to pay his grandmother’s back taxes, the failed hockey player brought his unconventional style to the golf course, becoming the most unusual competitor the Tour Championship had ever seen.

Along his journey, Happy made some allies (like the great and sadly late Chubbs Petersen, played by Carl Weathers, and a homeless caddy played by Allen Covert) and many enemies (including the arrogant Shooter McGavin, played by Christopher McDonald, and the aforementioned Bob Barker), but in the end, he triumphed over the odds. With his victory, he silenced the golf snobs, saved his grandmother’s house, and returned home in peace.

When is Happy Gilmore 2 being released?

So far, Netflix has not revealed the release date for the Adam Sandler-starring sequel, but it is expected to arrive on the streaming platform sometime in July 2025.

In the meantime, you can watch the first movie so that you don’t miss any details when the sequel premieres.
