Donatella Versace, the famous Italian fashion designer, announced that she will step down from her role as creative director of Versace. After nearly 30 years at the helm of this luxury fashion empire, she has established herself as one of the most recognized designers in the world, amassing a vast fortune. But how much is her net worth? Here’s what we know.
What is Donatella Versace’s net worth?
According to public sources, Donatella Versace’s net worth was estimated to be $400 million in 2024. She currently owns a 15,000-square-foot mansion in Meina, Italy, valued at 5 million euros. The mansion features four floors with views of Lake Maggiore, including 50 rooms, 20 bedrooms, and 12 bathrooms.
After the assassination of Gianni Versace, the founder of the brand, Donatella’s daughter, Allegra, inherited 50% of the Versace empire. Donatella received 20%, while her brother Santo inherited 30%.

Over the years, numerous celebrities and public figures have worn its creations, which has contributed to the continuous growth of Donatella Versace’s fortune.

Why did Donatella Versace step down?
Donatella took control of the iconic fashion house after the tragic assassination of her brother and the company’s founder, Gianni Versace, who was shot outside his mansion in Miami Beach in 1997. Since then, she has helped solidify the brand’s global reputation, partly due to her close relationships with renowned celebrities. However, the time has come for her to move on.
“It has been the greatest honor of my life to continue my brother Gianni’s legacy. He was a true genius, and I hope to inherit some of his spirit and tenacity,” wrote the 69-year-old designer on her Instagram account.
This decision came after negotiations with Prada for the purchase of Versace, which is set to be sold for nearly $1.6 billion. Versace has reported financial difficulties in recent months, showing a 6.6% decline in its revenues, and sales are expected to continue decreasing throughout 2025.
Although Donatella is stepping down from leading the company her brother founded, she will not completely distance herself from the family business, as she has stated that she will now serve as the Brand’s Chief Ambassador.
Who will be the new creative director of Versace?
Following Donatella’s departure, Vitale, the former design and image director at Miu Miu, a company owned by the Prada group, will take on the role of creative director starting April 1 of this year.
