Dairy Queen branches for auction in Texas
Most of the 24 closed Dairy Queen branches in Texas are now being auctioned online. The contents of the restaurants are also included. The auction page shows images of grills, ice cream machines, chairs, freezers, and other furniture.
Restaurant prices vary by size, with smaller locations ranging from $500 to $2,000, and larger ones between $2,000 and $6,000.

Why is Dairy Queen different in Texas?
The franchise owner wanted the restaurants to offer local flavors, so certain dishes are only available in that state, such as the Steak Finger Country Basket and the Hungr-Buster.
Does Dairy Queen serve real ice cream?
Technically, no. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), for a product to be considered “ice cream,” it must contain at least 10% milk fat or butterfat, which is not the case with Dairy Queen’s product.
Initially, this dessert was labeled as “frozen milk“; however, after new FDA regulations, new ice cream classifications were introduced: “light,” “low-fat,” and “reduced-fat,” which is where Dairy Queen’s product now falls.
