The History of The Cheesecake Factory
In the 1940s, Evelyn Overton discovered a recipe in a local Detroit newspaper that inspired her to create her “Original” cheesecake. It was so well-loved that she decided to open a small bakery, although she eventually left the project to care for her children, David and Renee. Nonetheless, she moved her baking equipment to the kitchen in her basement and continued selling cakes to some of the best restaurants in town.
In 1972, Evelyn and her husband Oscar moved to Los Angeles with the hope of starting their own business. With their last savings, they opened The Cheesecake Factory Bakery and began selling Evelyn’s cheesecakes to restaurants across the city.
In 1978, their son David decided to open a restaurant in Beverly Hills to showcase his mother’s cakes. He believed that a restaurant with a menu full of desserts would be a huge success. On opening day, a huge line formed, and more than forty years later, the company continues to thrive.
Does The Cheesecake Factory offer pickup and delivery?
The entire menu, including alcoholic beverages (where allowed by law), is available for pickup. You can place your order ahead online, by calling the restaurant directly, or by ordering at the counter when you arrive.
Additionally, many locations offer delivery services. If you place an order online, be sure to select the delivery option or ask the restaurant about the details if you prefer to place your order over the phone. Most restaurants use DoorDash for delivery.
What does The Cheesecake Factory give you for your birthday?
On your birthday, if you order a dessert, your dish will be decorated with your name and the words “Happy Birthday” written in chocolate or caramel. The plate is also adorned with caramel confetti, and the dessert comes with a candle on top. Additionally, you’ll receive a complimentary birthday sundae, which includes a small scoop of vanilla ice cream, fudge, whipped cream, confetti bits, and a candle.
For Cheesecake Rewards members, there’s a special birthday treat available in advance: a free slice of cake.
