Since the beginning of this year, Advance has opened six new stores in Florida, New Jersey, Tennessee, and Virginia. In the coming months, the company plans to open more stores to serve customers in communities in the following states:

The company also stated that it continues to expand its market centers with new openings coming soon in the Midwest, which will increase parts availability by placing between 75,000 and 85,000 SKUs closer to customers and other local Advance stores, as well as improving service speed with same-day parts deliveries.
“Advance Auto Parts is on track to accelerate its store growth and is focused on the fundamentals of selling auto parts. We are excited about the future of Advance. Our team is committed to providing the right parts and service to our professional and do-it-yourself customers in their communities,” said Shane O’Kelly, President and CEO, in the statement.
Additionally, the company’s incremental capital investment plan includes further investments in existing stores related to IT infrastructure, equipment, repairs, and inventory and delivery improvements to enhance the customer experience.
Why did Advance Auto Parts close stores?
Last month, the company announced the closure of dozens of stores. In a statement, it said that total net sales for the full year of 2024 were $9.1 billion, representing a 1.2% decrease compared to 2023. Comparable store sales for the full year of 2024 also decreased by 0.7%.
As a result, a plan was implemented to optimize business performance, focusing on key retail improvements to achieve profitable and sustained growth. This plan includes consolidating distribution centers, with the goal of operating 12 large facilities by the end of 2026, opening 60 market centers by mid-2027, and accelerating the opening of new stores.

History of Advance Auto Parts
Advance Auto Parts, Inc. is a leading supplier of automotive parts, serving both professional installers and DIY customers.
Arthur Taubman founded Advance Auto Parts in 1932 after acquiring three small supply stores in Virginia. Initially, the company was known as Advance Stores. At first, the stores offered vehicle parts and various household items like appliances, televisions, and roofing materials. They also provided services like oil changes, which helped differentiate them from competitors. By the early 1940s, Advance Stores had 21 locations.
In 1978, the company decided to reduce its inventory of household products and focus on auto parts, changing its name to Advance Auto. In 1985, with 100 stores, it adopted its final name, Advance Auto Parts. This growth was a huge success, and in 2001, the company began trading on the stock market.
