CES 2023: What’s happening at the Consumer Electric Show this year?

The Consumer Electronic Show is one of the largest tech expos in the world.  CES 2023 is emphasizing technology that could help address some of the most pressing global problems

The annual three-day event highlights the newest innovations in consumer electronics. It’s ongoing in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the US, since January 5, and will end on January 8. Multiple locations in the city, well-known for casinos and gambling, usually host CES events.

Technologies offering solutions at the CES 2023

 CES typically showcases a variety of different developing technologies. However, this year’s exhibition will concentrate on those that will be able to assist address the world’s most pressing problems according to CTA, Consumer Technology Association, the event organizer.

They feature environmentally conscious technology like robots that plunge into pipes to look for leaks.

According to Steve Koenig, vice president of research at the CTA, about 30 billion cubic meters of clean water are wasted due to leaks each year.  According to Koenig, approaches like this might make it easier to locate and address leaks.

Technologies helping businesses run more efficiently at the CES

This year, enterprise technology, or technology that attempts to make businesses run more effectively, is also in the spotlight. Innovations that allow people to collaborate with robots are particularly noteworthy.

The velcro backstrap that warehouse employees use when carrying large goods, for example, will be replaced by German Bionic Cray X, a wearable robotic device. Workers are meant to receive an additional boost from the Cray X robotic exoskeleton while they lift in order to lessen strain and damage.

The metaverse has captured the CES’s attention this year

This year, the metaverse is also getting a lot of attention. The word was most recently made widespread in 2021 by Meta (formerly Facebook). It is envisioned to be an immersive virtual environment, nevertheless, it is not yet a reality.

The metaverse, though, is “beyond virtual reality” this year, according to Koenig. He emphasized a recent development in the space: wearable headsets that have fragrances that go with images. This, he says, gives the consumer a more intense sensation of immersion. This year’s CES attendees will have the opportunity to view and use these products in the showroom.

 

Sophisticated consumer technology space at the CES 2023

Visitors will also have the chance to check out brand-new wearable technology and the newest video games. This is in addition to gadgets that concentrate on the show’s new impact-driven target areas.

This year, many of the top IT giants are in attendance except Tesla and Apple. Businesses like Dell, LG, and Volkswagen are seeking to capitalize on the notable absence by showcasing their new goods in the personal computer and electric vehicle markets, respectively.

 

Products made by established and expanding IT companies

For their newest products at the CES, big corporations like BMW, Samsung, and Google have erected sizable specialized booths. However, expanding tech-focused businesses are also present. They see the event as a chance to deepen their contacts with regional clients and forge new ones with clients abroad.

It’s now 56 years since the first Consumer Technology Show. Attendees seeking to explore the future of technology should expect to see classic and non-traditional gadgets on display from over 3200 exhibitors from 173 different countries.
