Is Spotify down? The popular music streaming platform Spotify experienced issues on Wednesday morning, leaving thousands of users around the world without access to key features of the app. Although playback of previously downloaded songs continued to work, the search and artist display tools encountered serious errors.
Social media and platforms like Downdetector were flooded with reports using phrases such as “Spotify not working”, “Spotify down” and “Why is Spotify not working?”, reflecting a high level of user frustration.

What happened to Spotify today?
The reported issues did not affect all app functions equally. According to thousands of users, the main problem was the inability to search for songs, artists, or playlists. When attempting to use the search bar, the app displayed a message saying “Something went wrong” along with a refresh button that did not resolve the issue.
Some users also noted that the app would freeze or that album covers and artist profiles failed to load properly. The search feature, one of the most used on the platform, was completely unusable for several hours, according to real-time reports on Downdetector.
According to Downdetector data, more than 20,000 outage reports for Spotify were registered just in the morning. While most of these reports came from the United States and Europe, disruptions were also reported in Mexico and other regions, suggesting that the failure had a global impact.
It’s worth noting that Spotify currently has over 675 million active users worldwide, so even a small percentage of affected users represents millions of people experiencing service interruptions.
Has Spotify fixed the issue?
The company quickly responded to complaints through its official channels. In a message posted on social media, Spotify confirmed: “We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out”. Later, the company assured users that “the issue with Search has been addressed” and that an update was already being rolled out to restore normal functionality in the app.
