On that day, you can get a small vanilla ice cream cone for free. Just head to any participating location in the country, stand in line at the counter, and ask for your cone. Keep in mind, the promotion is limited to one cone per person and will be available while supplies last.

Free Cone Day is an event established by the famous ice cream chain in 2009. It is the brand’s most important campaign, where they offer customers a free ice cream cone as a thank-you for their loyalty.

Dairy Queen is giving free cones for a year

Did someone say free ice cream for a year? You read that right! The company will not only celebrate Free Cone Day but will also give customers the chance to enjoy this delicious treat for an entire year through a sweepstakes.

“No celebration is complete without a special gift, and Dairy Queen is helping fans count down to Free Cone Day in an amazing way,” the company said in a statement.

From now until March 19, fans can download the official app and sign up for DQ Rewards to participate and get a chance to win Free Cones for a year. The sweepstakes is open to all U.S. residents, except for Texas.

History of Dairy Queen

The company’s first store opened in Joliet, Illinois, on June 22, 1940, under the direction of Sherb Noble. Later, in 1953, the chain launched its first store in Canada, located in Estevan, Saskatchewan.
