Are you a frequent user of Igloo coolers? Then this is important for you, as the manufacturing company has reported recalling over one million coolers after receiving multiple reports of people suffering injuries, including finger amputations.

Which Igloo coolers were recalled?

Igloo has recalled 1.06 million 90-quart Flip & Tow coolers, which were manufactured before January 2024 and sold between 2019 and 2025.

These coolers have a towing handle. The “Igloo” name is printed on the side, and they were sold in various color combinations for the body and lid. The following cooler models with towing handles are included in the recall:

The coolers were sold at prices ranging from $80 to $140 and distributed through the following retailers:

  • Academy
  • Amazon
  • Dick’s
  • Costco
  • Igloo Products

What damage can the recalled Igloo coolers cause?

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the towing handle can pinch users’ fingertips, causing the following injuries:

  • Lacerations
  • Bone fractures
  • Finger amputations

So far, Igloo Products Corp. has received 12 reports of fingertip injuries, including amputations.

What to do if I have a recalled Igloo cooler?

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has asked consumers to stop using these coolers immediately and contact the company to receive a free replacement handle.

Consumers can contact Igloo Products Corp. toll-free at 888-943-5182 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Eastern Time), Monday through Friday. The company has also provided the email address [email protected].

Are all Igloo coolers made in the United States?

No. According to the company, 95% of the plastic coolers are manufactured in Katy, Texas. The rest of the coolers, such as soft coolers, as well as other accessories, are made in various countries, including China.

Igloo return policy

While the company guarantees that its merchandise is free from manufacturing defects, it accepts defective items for refund or replacement. Any damaged or defective items due to the manufacturing process can be returned at no charge within 30 days of purchase.

Merchandise must be new, unused, and have the original tags attached. Returned items for a refund may be subject to a return shipping fee.

It depends on the type of cooler. For example, the Igloo cooler with insulation on both the body and lid and UV inhibitors that protect against sun damage can keep ice for up to 7 days, meaning your drinks will stay cold throughout your trip, no matter where you go.
