What is the Mattel Ruby Collection like?
The collection, which will debut at the Nuremberg Toy Fair, brings together products from Mattel’s most iconic brands. These include collectible Barbie dolls, compact Polly Pocket playsets, Hot Wheels vehicles, a ruby-red Magic 8 Ball, a special edition of the UNO card game, a die-cast locomotive from Thomas & Friends, and a reinvented version of Fisher-Price’s classic Chatter phone.

How did Mattel start?
In 1945, Elliot and Ruth Handler began their journey in the furniture sales and manufacturing business. After the success of their company, Elliot chose to partner with Harold Matson to create a company focused on producing picture frames, which they called Mattel Creations.
Thanks to their experience in the furniture field, they started manufacturing furniture for dollhouses. Upon discovering that this line of products was much more profitable, they decided to shift their focus to toy creation, which led to the birth of one of the largest toy companies in the world.
What was Mattel’s first toy?
In 1947, the company introduced its first big success: the Uke-A-Doodle, a musical instrument for children created with the purpose of making music more fun and interactive.
