Will there be a new Mario Kart game?
So far, Nintendo has neither confirmed nor denied rumors about a new installment of this iconic game. However, speculation arose after the trailer for the Nintendo Switch 2 was shown, featuring images of Mario Kart.
It’s not unusual for the company to showcase its most popular games to demonstrate the capabilities of its consoles. Still, some subtle details caught fans’ attention.
The trailer shows Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Peach, and Toad racing on a desert track that hasn’t been seen before. The karts also appear more compact and rounded, distinct from those in *Mario Kart 8 Deluxe*, and Donkey Kong resembles his appearance in the *Super Mario Bros.* movie.
These details confirm that the footage is not from Mario Kart 8 but entirely new material. Let’s not forget that in 2022, Nintendo announced that Mario Kart 9 was in development and would feature a fresh twist.
However, we’ll have to wait for the official announcement, which might happen in early April this year.
