Walmart offers a complete Christmas dinner package for only $5

This Monday it was announced that Walmart stores are offering a complete Christmas dinner package for only $5 per person.

The holiday season is undoubtedly one of the most important times for global commerce. Festivities bring a significant increase in consumption, driven by cultural, emotional, and economic factors, as many brands begin to launch their promotions for the season. For example, Walmart offers everything needed for a Christmas dinner for just $5 per person.

Holiday Spending Trends

Christmas spending varies significantly between countries, depending on purchasing power and local customs. In developed economies like the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany, consumers allocate billions of dollars to gifts, decorations, and family experiences. In 2023, the average household expenditure in the United States was $1,500, with toys and electronics being the strongest categories, according to data from Deloitte.

In contrast, in Latin America and Asia, although the average spending is lower, celebrations retain a strong focus on family gatherings and symbolic gifts. In these regions, e-commerce has played a crucial role, with platforms like Mercado Libre and Shopee leading sales during key dates like Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

What Walmart Offers

For years, the holiday season has been a time of joy but also a challenge for household budgets. In this context, many consumers find an option in Walmart’s $5-per-person Christmas dinner package, saving both money and effort.

The holiday package is designed to help shoppers enjoy a complete festive meal without overspending. According to John Laney, Walmart’s Executive Vice President of Food, the company has worked to create an accessible meal that allows families to create memories around the table while keeping costs low.

Walmart states that this offer will be available until New Year’s Eve, December 31, and can be accessed both online and in Walmart physical stores. The package includes 28 items covering everything needed for a complete Christmas dinner for up to 12 people. Among the items in the holiday menu are ham, side dishes, and even two dessert options. With this offer, shoppers can prepare a grand Christmas celebration without needing to buy a long list of separate ingredients, saving both time and effort.

The package also includes several options to cater to the tastes of all family members, according to Walmart’s promotion. Some of the items included are: double-glazed honey-marinated ham, brown sugar-glazed ham, Stove Top Stuffing double packs, cream of mushroom soup, canned green beans and whole kernel golden sweet corn, French’s crispy fried onions, Marie Callender’s Southern pecan pie, fresh 9-inch pie crust, and Great Value frozen whipped topping.

Broader Holiday Deals

Many retailers offer special deals and packages for their customers during this season. For instance, Costco also features a holiday menu tailored for these festive dates.

This illustrates how holiday consumption reflects the priorities and aspirations of societies. From the illuminated streets of Paris to the bustling markets of Mexico City, this season continues to be an economic driver and a unique cultural expression. In an increasingly globalized world, consumers seem to be balancing tradition and innovation, keeping the magic of Christmas alive while seeking more conscious and sustainable ways to celebrate.
