Many brands are already surprising their consumers with promotions and product launches for this Christmas season. One example is KFC, which has introduced its new holiday product: lickable wrapping paper for the gift-giving season that tastes like chicken.
A highly beloved sector by many people, but also questioned by some diners, fast food moves millions worldwide due to its convenience, speed, flavor, and low prices.
According to Statista, the number of international fast-food establishments in Mexico alone is close to 68,000, not including informal vendors.
In this regard, one of the brands with a strong presence in the country is KFC, which reported global revenues of $31.115 billion in 2022. By that year, the fast-food chain had 26,521 establishments worldwide, with China leading the way with over 8,000 restaurants.
What’s New from KFC
KFC, the fast-food giant, is literally the talk of the town. The brand has launched lickable wrapping paper for the gift-giving season.
KFC revealed its new holiday product, which it hopes will be on everyone’s lips—literally. The fast-food chain has introduced lickable wrapping paper for the festive season.
The limited-edition paper supposedly tastes like KFC’s original recipe chicken “with a refreshing hint of cranberry sauce and a savory touch of sage and onion stuffing,” according to the product description.
“Despite the festive battle, at KFC, we believe in chicken,” said Phoebe Syms, brand manager at KFC UK and Ireland, in a statement, according to the Daily Mail. “We’re introducing our first-ever lickable wrapping paper… inspired by our epic limited-edition Stuffing Stacker burger.”
However, KFC warned that the wrapping paper “is not intended for human consumption.”
The lickable sections of the paper have a protective cover that must be removed to access the flavorful portion, but it is not recommended to lick any part of the paper without a protective layer.
The company also noted that “a few licks may be needed” to fully enjoy the taste, and that all materials used are food-grade and non-toxic, though the wrapping paper is not suitable for vegans or vegetarians.
Apparently, KFC’s holiday collection is only available on the UK and Ireland websites, meaning fans in the United States will have to stick to traditional wrapping paper.
The KFC paper was designed by an “emerging artist” known as SOLDIER and was inspired by the fan-favorite Stuffing Stacker burger available on KFC’s holiday menu in the UK.
The burger features two original recipe fillets, sage and onion stuffing, lettuce, cheese, and a tangy cranberry sauce.
The lickable wrapping paper was available in-store for free, though it seems the stock has already run out.
Many brands have released products with unique flavors or scents. For example, one brand once launched a fried chicken-scented perfume, capturing the attention of consumers.
