After years of anticipation and global success, the iconic Chicken Big Mac is finally making its way to U.S. menus.
This burger a bold twist on the classic Big Mac, is poised to become the next must-try sandwich in fast food, drawing excitement from customers and influencers alike. Here’s everything you need to know about this long-awaited launch.
A New Era for an Iconic Sandwich
For decades, the Big Mac has reigned supreme as one of McDonald’s most beloved menu items. Its signature layers of beef patties, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and special sauce have captured the hearts of customers since 1968. But now, the fast-food giant is shaking things up by swapping the traditional beef patties for two crispy, tempura-battered chicken fillets. This change brings a fresh and exciting dimension to the familiar Big Mac flavor, all while staying true to its essence.
Tariq Hassan, McDonald’s Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer, emphasized the significance of this new addition. “With the introduction of the Chicken Big Mac, we’re excited to pay homage to one of our most iconic menu items and introduce it to a whole new generation of fans,” Hassan shared.
“By tapping into some of our fans’ biggest passions from dupe culture to live-streaming, we’re able to serve up more than just a sandwich. There truly is something for everyone to enjoy in this campaign and we’re bringing experiences that will surprise and delight them, all before the Chicken Big Mac hits restaurants.”
When is the release?
Starting October 10, McDonald’s fans across America will have the chance to try this limited-time offering at participating locations.

The Buzz Around McDonnell’s Pop-Up
Before the official release of this burger, McDonald’s stirred excitement with a clever marketing stunt in Los Angeles. A pop-up restaurant called “McDonnell’s” appeared for just one day, offering customers a chicken sandwich that seemed strikingly familiar. With its two chicken patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and sesame seed bun, the sandwich closely resembled what fans had been craving: the Chicken Big Mac.
McDonnell’s, created in collaboration with LA-based dining experience Chain, also served items like beef tallow fries and deep-fried apple pies. Fans quickly picked up on the similarities, calling it a “McDonald’s dupe.” As it turns out, McDonald’s was behind the entire event, adding a playful twist to their marketing strategy and building even more hype for the Chicken Big Mac’s arrival.
Is the Chicken Big Mac Still a Big Mac?
With the Chicken Big Mac now part of the menu, one question remains: Is it really a Big Mac if it’s made with chicken? To explore this culinary debate, McDonald’s has enlisted internet sensation and Big Mac superfan Kai Cenat. Throughout October, Cenat will host livestreams where he and his famous friends will try the Chicken Big Mac and share their honest opinions.
Kai’s followers can expect some entertaining debates as they tune in to watch the livestreams. Whether the Chicken Big Mac fits the traditional definition of a Big Mac or not, fans will soon have the chance to decide for themselves. Is the special sauce and unique assembly enough to keep it within the Big Mac family, or does the switch to chicken make it a new creation entirely?
