McDonald’s has finally introduced its newest burger, the “Big Arch,” to several global markets. This move comes after an eight-month tease that began during McDonald’s annual investor meeting in December 2023.
The “Big Arch” is set to tantalize taste buds with its two quarter-pound beef patties, a robust addition that significantly upsizes from the traditional Big Mac patties. Adding to the burger’s appeal are three slices of creamy white processed cheese, crisp onions, pickles, lettuce, and a novel Big Arch sauce that promises a tangy kick.
This burger is not only about more meat but also enhancing the overall sensory experience of McDonald’s offerings.
Launch Strategy and Market Response
Initially rolling out in select markets such as Canada and Portugal, McDonald’s aims to gauge the reception of the Big Arch before contemplating a broader international release.
“We have heard our guests loud and clear and understand they are looking for a bigger, burger on our menu, and we are excited to bring this new global menu item to Canadians,” said Alyssa Buetikofer, Chief Marketing Officer at McDonald’s Canada. “This satisfying burger combines the familiar McDonald’s flavours our fans know and love with some unique new ingredients, including a tangy new burger sauce created for the Big Arch specifically.”

Not Yet in the USA, but Other Treats Are Available
While American customers await the arrival of the Big Arch, they can find solace in seasonal offerings like the Pumpkin and Crème Pie, a beloved fall treat featuring a delectable blend of pumpkin and vanilla creme fillings encased in a flaky pastry crust. This dessert is currently available in select cities across the United States, including Seattle, Los Angeles, and New York City.
In a move to celebrate local agriculture, McDonald’s Canada has committed to using 100% Canadian beef in their burgers. This initiative not only supports Canadian farmers but also ensures the freshness and quality of their products. Moreover, the recent introduction of a promotional price of C$1 for a small McCafé Premium Roast Coffee in July 2024 is part of McDonald’s strategy to offer value to its customers, making daily treats more accessible.
What’s Next for McDonald’s?
As the Big Arch continues its trial phase, McDonald’s is closely monitoring customer feedback and sales performance to decide on its next steps.
With a strategic rollout and an eye on adapting to customer preferences, McDonald’s aims to keep its menu innovative while catering to the diverse tastes of its global clientele. Fans of the brand are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates as the Big Arch may soon find its way to additional markets based on its early success.
